Where do our footprints lead to?

I was pondering this thought this morning ... Where do our footprints lead to? Do they lead us to physical places or do they lead us to internal places such as our hearts or even our souls?

The more that I thought about this the more I think we let other people's footprints walk the internal path of ourselves. Why else do we tell people to tread lightly?
We allow them to walk the internal path to our hearts and at times to our souls. Sadly, when we are paying attention to where they walk they sometimes walk all over us.
The heart of us, is just that, it is a fragile place and yet, a very powerful place. We love passionately and we can love blindly at times. Like a window, we open this place sometimes to let the sun in and at times we let storms in too. We learn from those storms. We learn how to mend ourselves  after the heart is broken. We also learn not to open the window to that particular storm or any others for that matter. The sweetest ability that the heart has, is that it doesn't truly know how to lock out children. When a child is in our world no matter what our days show us, the bond and love that our heart knows for a child will always live in our hearts.

With that being said, I am only going to touch on something that I truly feel. The world has been shakened by the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial. She lied and she would rather have a life of partying but, I have to believe, that there is absolutely NOTHING any stronger in this world then the bond between a mother and her child no matter what actions a mother is responsible for.
There will be a time when she is sitting by herself or laying in bed waiting for fall asleep and there is nothing but blackness around her when her precious little Caylee will remind her. I have to believe that she will have that bond haunt her. That is something that even death can't break.
Our hearts can't escape no matter what.

If one is lucky enough to have footprints to our hearts we sometimes may open the hallway to our souls for them. I believe that our soul is a very pure and raw place. It is another powerful place but it can be damaged very easily if walked wrong. Our soul is like an ocean, very beautiful with life and love in it. Yet, can be painful and dangerous.
I think the one ability our heart doesn't have which could use, is the ability to protect our souls. That could come in handy at times.

We were always told, "Treat others as we would want to be treated", I'm not really feeling that rings that true as it would apply more to "Tread your footprints as you would want them to tread theirs through our internal path"

Footprints can lead us to any place we want to go just remember to make your footprints be worth following.
